Sorry Stan, had ot be done....!!!!
You can lose your licence on any bike Stan.stan the man said:well.....i really fancy trying a blade,arse1,gixer thou etc..so i might go and have a test ride.the only thing that worries me is the comfort factor as i suffer with my back, and that what i've heard in that the focused sports bike is happy when being riden hard/fast which will only give me a bigger chance of losing my liscence having said that...i really love the bird and suits the type of riding i do,is happy at whatever speed i am riding at,and always get off it with a BIG grin on my face..what more can i ask for.

I think that you may be surprised regarding the comfort thing. We are all different but I haven't ridden a truly uncomfortable sportsbike. My SP1 had a reputation of being uncomfortable but I never found it so. I did a couple of 300 mile days on it and I took it to Denmark. No problems.
Have a test ride on a sports bike. Keep an open mind but be positive and I guarantee that when you get back on the Bird you will think " This is horrible, it's too heavy, too ponderous, the bars are too far away, the fairing is enormous and the riding position is too upright.
Carol and I enjoyed our 7 years with the Bird and without going the full on touring bike route, I thought it was the best 2 up bike for blatting and touring, but our needs and more importantly our wants change and the biking scene changes.
If I never took a pillion, I wouldn't buy a Bird.
If I only used the bike 2 up for a couple of holidays a year, I wouldn't buy a Bird.
When I bought my Bird in 1998, I really bought it on looks alone. I thought it was the best looking bike ever. I honestly thought that I would never sell it but things change.
It's horses for courses but at the end of the day buy a bike that YOU WANT. Not that you think might suit your needs.
I know what you mean Stan but when I first got my Bird after my first ZX7R, a VFR and a GPZ900 and 25 previous bikes I thought the Bird was way too powerful and I would never use half the revs, then after a year or so you find yourself using the top third of the revs all the time. Using only the first 3 gears and red lining it. What ever bike you ride you have to have a very disciplined right hand and strong will power. Neither of which I have (evidence 9 points in 2 years, all after the GLF sign.stan the man said:hiya roxxo...i know you can lose your licence on any bike, but the point i was trying to make was that the bird seems happy @whatever speed she is going at,and that a "sports" bike just wants to be "used" more R#? .i too do not take a pillion anymore,so maybe my needs are changing to.
i really love the looks of the bird,as i love the looks of the blades,R1's etc etc...so maybe a test ride will make my mind up,but it would take something special to get me to part with the bird.....watch this space!

Slow road sweepers unlike the roads in Wales that are booby trapped with helicopters....flown by waiting sheep!!
Agree with you... but also no matter what we might try and claim I don't believe anyone buys a bike based on "best tool for the job". We buy what our heart says and then try and justify it!! ......... Go on, admit it!!!SILVERONE said:I quick blat around the Peak District on a summers night, one up, the Blades going to win hands down.
A blat down to the Med for a fortnight, two up, 3 boxes, tankbag and hairdryer/iron,
the bird's going to win hands down.
'I thinks' :-:
ps, I never have like the looks of the B/bird, I always thought it looked bland, that's the only thing for me that lets it down %$fan
