Ok - pro's and con's?

Buzz has opted for a Blade

Chunky "pines" for one

Another renegade has just turned traitor to the Blade cause

Compare and Discuss?

[and YES - it's a bike related post for once so no flaming please]

Trust Robbo to get it wrong from the off, never mind..

For me, I've changed to a Blade because:
Its a Honda
A much lighter bike to handle,
Its a Honda:bow:
Almost as fast in straight line,
Its a Honda:bow:
Better at cornering - more ground clearance,
Its a Honda:bow:
Its the bike I've always wanted but couldnt due to touring commitments - distance V Comfort V two up. Now these dont matter so much as she who must be obayed dosent ride so much.
Its a Honda:bow:

Enough?

They are the two bikes I like most and as Allan says Its a Honda.
I love my Bird but I'm going to get a Blade too. d04l1ng
I always wanted an M.V. F4 but when it comes down to it, the blade will do everything that the F4 will except keep its value and at an outlay for an F4 of about ?8-9K I think the blade wins.
I am tempted to try a Bird engine in a Blade frame though!

Ignoring the TFW~~~~~

so why does it seem that [overall] a lot of BIRD riders progress from a lighter [argueably more flickable/handleable] bike like the VFR............

then opt back for a lighter bike with less power and performance?

Here again I fit into this section..
Had two CBR 600's then went to a Bird, now going back to something lighter, a Blade.

Its probably that having had and handled a lighter bike, the Bird although fast as fook and comfortable cant do everything. I do miss the adrenalin rush when the back end lifts and skips under braking with lighter bikes, it gives you a sense of, well, limits!.

The Bird is so easy to ride, but its a big heavy bugger, and like my mate Rich say's, is like the Star Ship Enterprise, extremley fast, but a big heavy bastid that cant corner.

To be honset, where are you going to do 180mph?, whereas the Blade tops out in the 170's, where are you going to use that also?. For the time that you can (on motorways) the difference is nothing. And for those of you who start quoting 0-60 times, most Bird riders I've met could do with losing half a dozen stone to ever be able to get anywhere near that time. You dont see big fat lardy arsed Blade riders, do you?, no because weight is everything. (Theres no fat GP fookers is there?)

Gauntlet thrown down, who's gonna pick it up?.

LOL

Who says the BIRD can't corner? Standard trim perhaps a tadge slow to turn in - but with 8mm spacer?

Ask 1200 Pete or Cruser [bugger....Crusers on a Blade now ROFL!!]

Seem to recall YOU pushing the Sofa at a rather rapid pace round Prestwold?

Remember the 2 second challenge??????

As for acceleration..................

Compare the number?

Bird vs Blade vs R1

Mind you, the Blade has got cracking brake lights............as were often seen pre-bend in Spain!!

As you may or may not know, I'm lucky enough to have both (2000 'bird and 2002 'blade) - both of which I've owned from new.

I love both bikes, but there are advantages to each, over the other.

1) When going any distance, I much prefer the 'bird (more comfortable)
2) If I feel like "backroad scratching" then it's the 'blade every time
3) The 'blade isn't finished as well as the 'bird
4) The engine on the 'bird is a lot less "vibey" than the 'blade.

My only problem with having both bikes is, after riding the 'blade for quite a while, you get used to the incredible way it turns into a corner and the amazingly short braking distances. However, jump back on the 'bird, and it's difficult to remember that you're trying to haul up and turn an extra 60-odd kilo's. I only ever made this stupid mistake once - Luckily, there was nothing coming the other way.

Oh, and if you're wondering how I managed to convince my wife I should have both bikes - it was her idea.

A Blade may flatter a poorer rider, whereas to ride the Bird fast you need to be good. Apparently.
Or - get on a Bird not knowing it is too heavy to follow Blades etc round corners and you find that it does, honest!!!!!!!:neenaw: Suprises the hell out of the sports bike riders when a Bird keeps up through corners!!! :p :neenaw:

Unfair to compare a FireBland against a Bargebird, as they're built for two different jobs but if anyone wants a Bland my missus is selling hers after 3 years of ownership as she's just bought an R1; enough said I think!
Alternatively, I can also vouch for this one http://www.visordown.com/forums/showthread.php?t=236577

I love black bikes.
I thought my Bird was gorgeous but the Blade is a real stunner.

Having had the Bird 7 years I fancied something with as much go but was lighter and more agile. I had the ZX7r and the SP1 at the same time as the Bird and in the end decided that I only wanted 1 bike and that it would be a sports bike.
I have done 2500 miles on the Blade since Sept. A lot of those 2 up. Carol says it is not as bad on the back as she thought it would be. We plan to use the Blade as we did the Bird.

Different bikes for different jobs but you can tour on a sports bike you know.
Especially if you are young, fit and agile. (cue abuse)

Wolfie

Is a lunp
no think pete and russ had a 13 mm spacer.

180???? on a FI

new blade against fi bird figures say blade is faster top end.

bird is outdated fat heavy lost its speed doesn't corner as well paint is shit (soft) doesn't encourage you to throw it around as much, attracts the older person, in short it is an old mans bike that will do most things ok/fairly well. it does not call to you shouting ride me ride me you fecker.
