So, the big question: is it better than an R1 or GSX-R1000? Without a stopwatch and side-by-side testing that's very difficult to say for sure. On the basis of seat-of-the pants feel, I have some doubt that the FireBlade could better the Suzuki in the hands of an experienced racer. But for the occasional track-day rider, and on the road, its outstandingly forgiving nature and ease of use will likely set the Honda in front.

In the hands of talentless monkey like me I can tell the difference so who wrote this shite? Forgiving nature? (journo code for dull if ya ask me). Get a grip Honda

Having cartwheeled and barrel rolled my 05, I am waiting for delivery of an 06.

In my humble opinion the 1000rr is more comfortable than the bird on longish rides,

but not as comfortable as my Harley w;;v

so why does it seem that [overall] a lot of BIRD riders progress from a lighter [argueably more flickable/handleable] bike like the VFR............

then opt back for a lighter bike with less power and performance?

??? as has been said how many times do you use all those little revs up there near the redline in top gear

on a blow for blow run i think the blade would eat the bird everytime, except for the top end on say a motorway/auobahn. but then the bird would be catching up after the blade whipped its ass in the twisty stuff.

lighter - MORE power - 150hp at rear wheel on 2006 model - easier handling

Unless Honda updates the bird... more will turn
