There's those who "walk the walk" and there are those who attempt to "talk the Talk"
cannot see the connection between talking, walking, and doing a track day if you choose not too :dunno:

in a safe and controlled environment
really..try telling explaning that to the ambulance people on stand by or to the wife of a possible member thats just broke his back coming off :dunno:

and it's had to be cancelled because we couldn't raise enough interest - sad really
why is it sad? you can still do your track days at other times..so stop trying to coax members into something they dont want to do

The bollox that's spouted in here
pot/kettle interface

It's the old adage "Don't knock it etc etc "
maybe people dont wanna try it to begin with :dunno:

how about doing something that the majority of members want to do rather than you new found hobbie :dunno:

the above isint meant to be pisstaking but a serious reply..read it as you wish..no skin...etc

was the 1 to 1 training included in the price :dunno:

OH!! WELL!!

I too am disappointed the rider day was canceled, money for me is also very tight, but, it would have been a learning experience, and one which I feel may well benefit both myself and Tina for the future, I understand some, have other things to spend their hard earned on, and hope that one day we might all be in a position to do something like this without "worrying" about cost and stuff,

Id also like to say thank you to Allan and Bert for trying to get the day together,

Deja vu.........................

Sounds familiar............

if 100 people say they fancy a trip abroad, 50 will pull out half way through the organising..leaving you to reorganise
10 will pull out 4 weeks before you go leaving you to reorganise
10 you wont hear from ever again leaving you pissed off and reorganising
10 will be ill so cant make it leaving you to reorganise
10 wont be able to afford it leaving you to reorganise
9 will let you down in the last few days cos they couldnt give a toss how much time and money you have spent organising it
which just leaves Bert...what a thought :puke:
sad but true :violin: :t

It is a shame for those who wanted to go that this event was cancelled.
I have never been and will never be interested in track days, for some reason it doesn't fire my rocket.
I agree though with 12Pete, (I think), who mentioned about mid corner braking, I nearly had a nasty accident last weekend on the rideout due to someone in front of me braking hard. I had to do the same which then put me on the wrong side of the road on a blind bend. Either have confidence in the bike or stay off the road.

Whhoooaaaa boys..

Steady lads, slow down a bit.

I haven?t posted anything here yet because, yes, I suppose I was a 'little' disappointed that I had to cancel the day.

After arranging the event which included:
booking the venue, arranging insurance cover, buying flags, arranging marshals to give up a day at no cost, numerous phone calls and emails, printing loads of documents, arranging ambulance cover, hospitality suites, beverage, instructors, theres more but I wont go on?

Well yes, I was disappointed, not for me, but for you lot, as I?m doing this on another day with a load of coppers who are going, and enjoy it.

Reading some of the posts here leads me to post the following to try and clear a few things up.

The days I arrange are not about going as fast as you can until you fall off or run up the arse of some else in front of you.

Its about learning more about your own ability and also that of the machine you ride. Tuition is provided on a 1 to 1 basis (yes its free and built into the cost of the day, sometimes with a police rider, sometimes with a fully trained racer!) for those who want or need it. The aim of the day is for you to leave at the end of it with a greater understanding of what you and your machine can do. How to ride safer, how to plan earlier, how read what others are doing around you, how to sit and move on your machine and understand what happens to your machine when you do get the confidence to move around on it, and so, the list is endless.

So to dispel the misplaced posting of those out there who quiet obviously have never done a skills/track day, but offer their ?ten penneth? without being qualified to do so, all I can say is, come along and try it, you?ll be surprised at how much you can learn.

Although I instruct on track days, I?m no master and still learn something new each time I go out there. There are always better riders out there than you, so don?t fall in to the belief that you know it all ? you don?t.

Right, feeling somewhat better now, I will, if there?s enough of you WHO REALLY WANT TO DO THIS, arrange another day. (I must be fooking mad)

However, due to the demand made upon this track, its unlikely that it will be this year, so what I will do, is get in touch with the track owners, get a list of available dates and post a couple of them.

You lot take your pick, sign up to it and when, and only when, I have 40 names, I?ll do something about it.

As and when I have something, Bert will post it as a sticky on the ride out section to stop clogging up this forum.

Now he sits back and waits for comments???????????

Buzz.

Thanks Buzz, I'm up for that proposal, your efforts are appreciated

I know that I have "faults" and I'm hoping something like this would "help" iron them out,

... If Buzz can be arsed (and I wouldn't blame him for giving up right now!), he might keep the cheques sent in by those of us who are genuinely committed to improving our riding skills for the next available date. That way, he has an opportunity to assess the shortfall on the required numbers, and to offer a limited number of places to attract the remainder (Alright, alright! Form an orderly queue!) Simple rule: No refunds under any circumstances (premature death excluded). Anyone pulls out - the day still goes ahead.

As I said...

You got mine...

Keep it....

...And let's ROCK !

Sometimes I look on this forum and I think to myself

what a bunch of tossers you are!!!!!!

You all seem so nice when I do your membership details.

Track days, skill days, you either like them or you don't.

Me, I love them. I recognise the value of them against developing my riding skills. I cannot wait to do my Rapid Skills day in August. It will give me a chance to get used to the CBR600 and hopefully I will ride that even better than I did the NTV on the track.

Buzz/Fat Bert:, Derek and I would be happy to consider a date for next year. This year we could not due to other committments. However, if one of your intended dates fits our free dates then we shall be delighted to join in.

As far as I am concerned if anyone takes the piss on this forum out of any rider that does one of these days then they do not deserve to be a member.

There are many ontrack days, that are not full of mad hooligans, the ones that I have done have been amazingly organised, all fools, or those who think they are track gods, are swiftly removed or knocked down to size.

Just post the details about the days on here, but stop expecting others to do them. If they don't want to then fine. If the numbers aren't made then that is just tough.

If you are that desperate to do a day of on track training whatever the format, there are plenty other firms out there who offer exactly the same. (Sorry Buzz but thats true). So please stop wingeing at other members.

I think the thing that pisses people off a bit is that almost everything that someone tries to do on this site is met with a could not be arsed attitude and subsequently nothing ever happens.
I have seen many a time on other forums and clubs, with a lot less members than us, hire out complete tracks or runways to do there thing on and it happens!
We cant even get 10 people to the north of France. It just seam's a bit sad that a few people go a long way out of there way to do things for the members and no one backs them up. :dunno:

I agree Pete..........................

its just that I am fed up with members whining at other members because they don't want to do it. Its a case of you either want to do it or not. You either have the money/time or not.

Its always the same in most clubs when the few organise things and get little response. Apathy. Perhaps the invitation should be extended to the VFR forum.

Of course it would be fair to say that there is very little positivety about further training of any sort on this forum. Its usually met with sarcastic comments.

Any amount of training, no matter how big or small would benefit the vast majority of us. On track or on road.

You are right about other clubs with less members getting track hires etc. Perhaps this club is just not destined to be community minded in that way. :dunno:
