Starter for ten.....Can you get a pinlock system visor for an Arai signet GT helmet, or do the visor vents prevent the fitting? If so I'll go for fog city hyper optiks. :dunno:

Yes Dave... there are two types available.. Fog City and pinlock.. Both work very very well indeed and stop misting up completely..

I have used Fog City ( or equivelent ) for the past 8 years and can highly recomend either type if you do any winter(ish) riding

whats this then...double glazing for helmets ???

sorry ..Im new :)

yes mate...if you ride in cold,damp/wet conditions...you will have experienced a misted up visor, which is a major pain in the arse.well a pinlock visor insert totally iradicates that problem.there are others similar(fog city etc)but you can remove the pinlock one to clean the inside of the visor, because it is held in place by two pins(as opposed to being stuck in place with adhesive)well worth the ?15-?20 they cost :yo: :yo:

Fog City V Pinlock

I used Fog City for years and the only problem is the inside gets snotty....coughing etc and the fog city scratches very very very easily and you cannot wash the visor as water gets between the fog city and the visor and so....new fog city every few months. With the pinlock when the inside gets snotty, take the visor off. Remove the pinlock, taking care not to loose the little studs as they fall out....wash the lot, air dry with the wife's hair drier and reassemble..... Brilliant! Been using the same visor on two Shooie helmets for over two years and nary a scratch. Get one soon!!!

I got a pinlock anti fog insert at the show for my shoei and used for the first time yesterday to/from work on the bike.

What a difference... it's got to be the best thing since sliced bread...

The visor stayed down all the time keeping the rain out and me warm... no misty visor or glasses and clear views all the time.

Well worth it my view, in fact I'd say it's an important safety aid.

Tell you what I dont know!

The visor I bought already had the holes drilled in to take the pinlock insert. I assume you have to drill the holes yourself if fitting the pinlock to an existing non-pinlocked visor????? Anyone done it??? :h :dunno:

Yep I've done it on a Shoei visor and also on the wife's Shark visor. You get some templates which are of use for the correct visor, but I just took my time. The pins actually have an eccentric centre so you can get the pressure on the insert just right.

Ta for the replies, the only reason I asked is that my visor on the Arai signet has two vents at the top actually on the visor, the fog city is shaped to go around beneath the vents and form a seal, I was wondering if that would still be possible with a pinlock system as it works by stretching the inner part tight across the visor to form the seal. :-:

Me - I got the DIY version from The Visor Shop (someone already posted the link). In the kit you get a stick-on template which shows where to drill the holes and a correctly sized drill bit. In the end I didn't stick the template on, but instead marked the spot with a marker pen. I've since lost it!!

Finally IMHO the pinlock is better than a Fog City, as it can be more easily replaced if you scratch it (moi  ?), and gives less "star effect" at night. The major downside is that you can break the pins and if you do this its shagged

Shagged??

On mine the pin are just popped in and are not eccentric so if I break a pin...HOW? surely I can get replacement pin.... More likely to loose a pin down the drain when washing!

I'm fairly sure you can get spare pins

You've got to look really closely, but the reduced radius part where the end of the insert sits is actually slightly of centre to the rest.
