i,v been sourcing bits and bobs and trying to build myself a cbr600 for the past few months i thought it was going to take me ages but i found a donor bike last week, so all the brakes, radiator and things like engine clutch cover are all far better than those i have :yo: iv sandblasted and painted the frame and swing arm, stripped and rebuilt the forks, jaws helped me with the shock arm, and today i overhauled the brakes and fitted them.
tomorrow i,ll do valve clearences and hang the engine and depending on time situe the loom and start overhaul on the clutch.
i should post requests in the for sale thread but!! does anyone know of some cheap panels for an old jelly mould fj,, dont matter what colour because im putting my body shop knowledge to the test too:eek:
this has been the best fun iv ever had with my clothes (overalls) on, and if anyones interested i will keep you posted on my progress:rolleyes:

I just hate people with a clean and tidy garage............
:yo: im using simon tijou,s garage in dumfries codbasher (its called "ghost dog machines), hes a great mechanic and a real perfectionist, use the impliment and replace it, clean up a spill when it happens. its hard work but he,s right when he says you dont lose things as easy in a clean environment:p

no photo but to date i'v applied both the radiator and oil cooler, there was a little twist in the radiator that must have been caused by an off (chucked down the road) but none of the fins were damaged:yo: after inspection i found that someone had drilled holes in the front fairing frame probably hoping to fit some fancy piece of plastic but it really weakened the structure so i had my first lesson in delicate welding:rolleyes: changed the rubbers in the cush drive (feckin wheel off again:cry: ) and lastly replaced sprockets and applied new chain

i'll take a few pics tomorrow
cheers

This is really good. k1ap

I've not owned a CBR600 (being well over 6ft tall they always seem a bit small for me whenever I've sat on one) - but I am yet a big fan of the mighty middleweight Honda.

Helped a mate do some work on his Benetton-coloured one a few years ago (was it a 1989/ 1990 model... :dunno: ) fitting new brake discs and pads/ tyres / fresh oil and a general clean up after several previous owner(s) years and years of abuse. Biggest problem was most of the lugs for the fairing fixings were broken off and long since chucked away, so we ended up using a few cable-ties instead.

It still absolutely flew and sounded very healthy - even when being caned hard on its "post servicing "proving" sorties". Even on what must have been tired suspension, it could still be chucked around without any real problems.

Looking forward to seeing the end result of your big-rebuild.

I'd really fancy a CBR600 - if only I wasn't so bloody tall........ :xm

cheers jupiter it is normally fun but in answer to bb's post today has been a struggle! one of the air screws in the carb was seized and broke:xm after trying to dig it out without wrecking the thread i gave up and took it too a local engine shop (more money), i fitted the reg/rec, starter solinoid and the clocks and was going to start on the loom but left it untill tomorrow as it needs major clean and overhaul

hope everyones well , im off for some tea
cheers:beer:
