GARMIN QUEST PROBLEMBS

richard

Cool as a Cucumber
If you are going to buy one DON'T they have what i would personally call major cartography problems, I'm now on my 2nd one with the same problems it will not even negotiate the roundabout at the end of my street. I have now been in contact with Garmin europe who have in turn been talking to Garmin Us they are getting me to run some tests.. But they cannot resolve them prob until Jan 2006 yes next year if its a mapsorce problem, and if its a hardware fault you are looking at March but they do not know which yet..

To say im a tad pissed off is a understatment :bang:

Of course Skip.......as seen on Ebay and Police 5 !!!!!!

Careful mate as I heard a rumour that Maps R Us are about to be boycotted by a local action group group because the mapping paper is derived from the mushrooms grown by slaves that are forced to remove their motorcycle helmets.

Can't understand why a PDA screen would crack when my phone lives in the tank bag and has never suffered yet,, are you riding CYCLECLIPS 883 Massey Fergy??

I had it mounted on the handlebars m8y suppose if its in ya tank bag it might b ok but i like to see the screen as the voice was not that accurate or give you enough time to make a decision.

Sorry to hear your having problems Richard. I don't want throw salt in your wounds m8, but, I've been putting mine through its paces for over a week now and not encountered any problems at all. Routing, autorouting, roundabouts, avoidances, off route recalculations etc all function without any errors or hicups. So far as I'm concerned its a nice bit of kit for the money.

Fodds try it in simulation mode with the satellite acquisition switched off it's when it shows the probs then when you go to drive the rout it will just loop on tiself ...they have ran a test at garmin and everyone they tried did the same fault :violin:

Thanks for the info Richard. However, I've spent the last hour or so testing and I cannot recreate this problem with mine :dunno:

I think I covered all the bases, I've created routes both in Mapsource and on the unit, I've simulated them and actually driven them, it's worked without fault everytime.........tis a bit of a mystery........

This is very very strange ! We went all over Europe and the Quest was perfect all the time..
And I got to play with one for a couple of days and loved it to bits !

The plot thickens, try and go into simulation mode and try and go around the roundabout at 52o 58640 North 27576 west (On autorought) Heading up Breton Gate in Peterborough From the Atherstone ave end to the A47.. I bet ya it throw's it's toys out the pram..

Try from 55 Axiom Ave westwood to 20 Tollgate In Bretton
