oi, yer fookin knobheads, look at the picture!!!

it is in a biult up area !!! if you you speed there you deserve nickin'.

Steve i am with you, 60 and 70 should be camera free.

speeding in 20,30,40 built up areas mean you are a complete wanker and deserve what you get.

i get fookin knobsuckers speeding past my house , the road has a line of parked cars all down one side and there is a 90degree bend 20 ft from my house and yet still the feckers are going 40+ down there, there is a park right behind me and all the kids play there, what chance have they got???

Speeding in built up areas is bad driving pete.

speeding in 60 and 70 is fine by me as long as you are not putting any body else in danger.

if i want to do 100mph around single track roads with 4ft high banks on them, then that is up to me as long as there is nobody else about who i am putting in danger.

speed is great but only in the right places.

speed cameras on fast roads are a hazzard in them selfs
not only do you have to watch the road for debry, hazzards, pratts coming up the inside lanes, idiots that can keep there car between the lines of the lanes, ducks, horses, overhead bridges for speed cameras,IF THATS NOT ENOUGH...YOU ALSO HAVE TO LOOK FOR BLODDY SPEED CAMERAS
when you spot on the late side,,its on with the brakes..then you become the hazzard there!not to mention is it a 40, 50, 60 etc so you overbrake hoping to reduce your speed even more..just in case!
i was caught doing a 107 in a 50 once by coppers with a hand held gun..
this was on the M4 at 7am on a sunday..no other fooker about all lanes clear and no roadwroks either!
the summons said there was roadworks ..hence the 50 limit
i contacted the contractors in charge of that section of motorway..who also agreed they were not working there at the time of it
comes into court and i asked one of the coppers..under oath was there any cones or plant there at the time..he reply yes it was coned off with heavy plant etc by the hard sholder..i asked was he sure..he replied yes..
so i get copper 2 in court..ask him the same question..and he replys no there wasnt but the whole area was under a 50 limit..ask him was he 100% on that..he replies yes
then while im in the box meself i start to produce the conversation and details of the guy i had been speaking to at the contrators..and the bitch for the police stood up so fast and stopped me from going any further because they were not in attendence and the eviedence could not be used in court..so luckly at this point the judges new what the situation was even tho i was found guilty..7 day ban no points in the end:B
so without dragging people into court costing further expence you just dont have a chance
ive also rode out of scratchwood services last summer and watched them setting up a camera on the flyover across the M1 AT 10PM AT NIGHT!
how many accidents happen on the m1 past the services at that time..none i guess even during the day..you wouldnt have a chance to see the camera at that time of night so its just about getting money in..no doubt about it:xm

BTW
how well do you think you keep your car between the lines of a motorway or duel carriage way??..try this when the roads are clear .. drive between the lanes and try and keep the white line central with your bonnet...damm hard to do and you will be surprised how far you actuly drift either side

why is the inside lane clear?????
depends what paticular time you refering to..but in general you get the pratt who likes to weave in and out of cars rather than pulling over to the next lane free to overtake

Wolfie

Is a lunp
but if all the arseholes who hog the middle lane pulled over then said driver/rider would not be able to undertake and the middle lane would then be clear to overtake.

if i come across a middle lane arsehole, i do undertake and i make it very clear to them my thoughts on their crap driving.

if there is space to undertake then there is space for them to pull over.

I too believe that the cameras are purely a source of revenue and that getting speeding drivers is the easy option.
Near to where I live there is a road close to the M6 that had a "safety" camera put on it a couple of years ago and the road had a 40 limit. Not many pedestrians along that stretch of road and no(and I mean no)accidents. Then some sneaky git lowered the speed limit on the road to 30 and put up the speed limit signs 20yds after the camera. How much money did that raise I wonder!!
I think that if you are caught speeding the time of day and road conditions should be taken into account. Ie If you`re doing 50 in a 20 zone by a school you`re obviously a d**khead and deserve everything you get. But if you`re on a motorway or dual carriageway and theres no traffic~(and unless you`re taking the p*ss) where`s the harm.
Just my opinion.
I also think that people who hog the middle lane on the motorway should be heavily penalised as they cause more congestion and frankly theres just no need to.

Sorry mate but not once in all my inane rambling did I condone speeding in built up areas. I am generally very respectful of urban areas, schools, villages, pedestrians and horse riders.

Also the picture was taken in the middle of London, you me and everyone else have seen these sneaky Bastids out in the country, plus what do you think is going to happen when they are not catching people in town any more :dunno: they aint gonna sell of all the vans and cameras and give the coppers a long vacation.

Then when they have "dummed down" the country side they will lower the tolerance level. This is a very steep and very slippery slope.

Lets face it if someone was giving you millions of pounds to do a piss easy job, and you got used to having that sort of dosh. Then it started to dry up and your looking at sacking hundreds of employees, and the government is giving you grief because it don't want all those people on the state, what you gonna do? the only thing you can. tighten the thumb screws harder and harder.

That's why I want to be left alone when I take myself out to the arse end of nowhere to hone my riding skills.

Talking of middle lanes.
All HGV's should be confined to the left hand lane of dual carriageways. I'm sick of being stuck at 55MPH watching two trucks in a race with only 0.1mph difference in their speeds. Do these w@nkers realise that if their journey was the length of the country then with that sort of speed difference there would barely be a couple of minutes between them. I've witnessed this ritual going on for five or ten minutes and I was only able to pass when the motorway grew another lane.
Ban them to the LH lane and only let them out of it when they come across an escorted load.

I work in a power station that sucks fish in at one end and shoves greenhouse gases out of the other...I'd rather admit that than admit I was a "safety camera operator"

Messer I reckon you've got balls the size of coconuts.

 SUPERBIRD : If someone isn't taking notice of signs which reduce your permitted speed i.e. 70 mph down to 50 mph then they deserve whats coming....do you think they had a huge stockpile of signs displaying 50 mph and so decided to just put them out????? NO its for a purpose..

XX LARGE : All HGV's stick to the inside lane :f i used to drive a truck and its all about keeping momentum going and the revs up...where do you shop, where do your spares come from and your fuel????? :dunno: road freight..... Let the wagons do their bit, its not long to follow and the power of your BB should be no match for a 44 ton artic.

Getting back to cameras,, they are put out to build statistics over a period of time. How do you think that 20,30,40 mph zones came into play...? STATS.... when someone writes to the local MP and claims that the road is a death trap then they have to be seen to act.....following a serious RTA you'll find a camera appear soon after.

PETE is very true in a lot he says and so to is WOLFIE but we NEED these cameras in the correct places and those being built up areas and accident black spots ( i said BLACK).

MESSER i'll back you 100 percent if you keep it in the city but if you go out onto the open moorland roads i'll have to kick your ass :m ... I was saved by a VOLVO driver last Tuesday on the A49 Whitchurch road by a courtesy flash and thumbs down,,i think he was warning me about the camera van in the layby or he did'nt like my very quick RED bird.. As the sticker I saw on the back of a cage this morning seems suitable

"What a brilliant start to the day - now watch some Bastid spoil it"

All HGV's stick to the inside lane? Which alternative universe do you live in then?

Its not all about keeping revs up and momentum going its about being courteous to other road users. If that means slowing several miles of motorway down to 56mph that's a pretty shitty way to be courteous.

I refuse to accept that a few minutes added to a delivery lorry's journey time would add a penny to my shopping bill. Bring it on and I'll gladly pay the difference.

As I said previously, I've been stuck behind these "knights of the road" (Pah!) for mile after mile while they sit side-by-side across the motorway, with their trucks up to the limiter and it pisses me right off. Half the time I reckon they're asleep. Oh yes, and that's when they kill people. After their marathon overtake they sit in front of the truck they've just passed and the guy in the losing truck sits six feet behind, no doubt enjoing the view of the wagon he's just about to hit. Pedal to the metal and the strains of "convoy" ringing in their empty heads.

There's a big problem with truckers - they are piloting 30-odd ton behemoths across the countryside with half the brains they were born with. Look at photographs of the worst motorway pile-ups and the most damage is always done by the trucker.

Case rested.........coat on.

Read the post !!!!!! My point was why put a 50mph limit on a bloody motorway for Christ's sake ??????? I couldn't give a toss where the signs are coming from....whether they're from a stockpile or purchased with the proceeds of the speeding fines. The placing of the cameras is my bone of contention.....and you have said they are needed in built-up areas.....do you have housing on your local motorways then ??????

I personally have always found the trucker to be the bikers friend

It is always a trucker that flashes if there is a cop up the road.

They let you out of side roads, they never flash there lights or stick there fingers up when you overtake them.

They are generally extremely polite.

Lets face it how would you like to have your bike restricted to 60mph and then be told to go to Inverness as fast as humanly possible or your in trouble.

To the truckers of this world I salute you

good looking AND modest
Truckers

Are in many ways similar to us bike riders in that,
[1] they have to be aware of all that is arround them''safety'',

[2] they also have ''extra'' education on the road, leading to their test,

[3] they also have to be ''road'' aware, in that they have to be aware of the road conditions, and prevailing weather conditions,

[4] they hate cars as much as we do,

I havn't had any problems when on my bike and I reckon the reasons above might have summat to do with that.
