I’ve been stuck on a ship at anchor off Tocopilla, Chile, for the past ten days. The port is closed until next Wednesday because of the mahoooosive swells, which are never higher than 1.5 metres. So that means I’m here until at least next Friday. Awesome.
The Captain told me earlier that we’re running low on fresh water so we now have to ration. No bunker barges available locally and the vaps are buggered so we can’t make our own fresh water. Domestic supply has been turned off, which means no showers and no laundry. Each of us is given a 50 litre bucket of water per day for washing. Bogs are to be flushed with salt water. Awesome.
Did I mention I’m stuck here until next Friday? Awesome.
