thanks to my riding knowledge.

Yesterday long straight in the middle of nowhere, 3 figures(private road) at the end sharp left (tighter than 90 degree bend) know bend is coming know what speed i can get around it, pull out wide onto wrong side of road to see around the bend, FECK me the corner is covered in shit and rocks, the farmer has dragged the feckin lot out of the field and left it on the road!!!

me mate Bill was following me gets on the brakes as well turns around and warns the others who are coming behind us.

you could not see the crap if you would of stayed on the left side of the road, and we would of have 4 Plus bikes down and riders hurt, if we had not seen it in time.

I HATE FARMERS. :bang: :bang:

See how much you hate them when you have f*** all to eat, no leather to make your boots, kit etc and no milk for your brew...

one winter a couple of years back about eight of us going to Sherburn cafe, going along an unlit country road as we rounded a sharp right hander we discovered that a farmer had dropped a load of mud and potatoes (proper ones not Harley's) all over the road, luckily nobody came off, but I think a couple of the lads had to change their underwear.

Then turn the tables...........

A few years back i was trying to earn a living in the great British climate, single handed. I had just taken a load of spuds from the field back into the yard when i heard a group of motorcycles coming in the distance,, one by one they passed all going like buggery they were. Lucky i wasn't stood in the middle of the derestricted country road with a yard brush in my hand trying to clean 800 yards of road, i may have been run down.

My apologies for not being more clear on this, in no way am I trying to denegrate farmers, I used to own a small holding and even now rely on farmers amongst other things for hay for my horses, I was trying in my own clumsy way to point out that if we choose to ride on twisty country roads, then we should be aware of the dangers, like the rest of us farmers have to make a living, and they work bloody hard and long hours

then you should of have put your warning sign up and stood to the side of the road when you heard the traffic coming.

So he's to get 2 signs, walk up and down the road putting them out and bringing them back in, cleaning the road after every pass he makes not to mention the muck carried by cars travelling through it whilst following him...
Get real, you really shock me sometimes Andy.
Why don't people take more care in what THEY are doing themselves and stop looking for someone to plonnk the blame on.
You knew you were passing a farm surely,,, ya know,, big stone buildings, moo cows and healthy smells etc,, expect the unexpected.
Loose border coolie dogs, girls on horseback, slow moving vehicles and concealed entrances.....oooh and mud on the road.

Two signs would be fine...............

Yet another in a fantasy world where all is as we want it to be........

All that so you can rip past his farm in excess of the given speed limit....... how you make me laugh  . The land was probably there before the road,, the property will have been split by greedy government to put YOUR road in place.

WAKE UP and Sloooooow down

MAN on the PAN
so your saying the poor downtrodden farmer has every right to dump crap over the road and not be responsible for cleaning it up !
or does he want another subsidy to do that ?

I'm saying GET REAL.

The farmer cannot keep sweeping the lane every time he comes in and out of the field, its simply impossible. Most farmers who use the highway will have a PTO driven brush for clearing the road so not to leave it a mess.
The reality of the job means it cannot be used each time a journey is made.
Your responsibility is to take care and ride within your means, riding in a rural villiage means taking into account these hazzards just like riding in town you have double decker buses.

Im sure i read somewhere that contractors like pipeline companies electrickery board gas board and such like have to clean the roads as soon as they dump crap on them but farmers have to clean the roads they mess up before dark oclock.

i remember a while ago in a local paper somebody took a farmer to court cos he left a coating of mud 6" deep on a blind corner causing a few accidents (and i think 1 fatality) and he got off with it

Oi you wellie loving, Vinny jones wannabe, it was in the middle of nowhere, no farms, no buildings, no cows just 1 road and fields.

no warning signs, no attempt to clean up just a fucking dangerous mess.

as regards to my speed, please reread my post, was well below the limit as it is a very sharp bend, i was at the most doing 25mph(slow in fast out remember)

and i bet the bastard farmer was using red diesel, the shit went on for an least 1/3-1/2 a mile down the road as well.

alonabird the crap was dry so it had been there at least for 1 night.

i have to ride on the shit that farmers dump on the road every feckin working day, it is feckin disgusting and dangerous, what gives them the right to chuck crap all over the place and get away with it. If one of our lorries using a lbs of alu swarf etc etc we have VOSA and the o licence people down on us within 3 days normally.

oil leaks on the road is a big no no you agree??? but mud/rocks etc etc is ok???? get real man and stop shagging the horses!!!!!! :k :k

yes but not for travelling along the road to the shops and back, is for using on fields and using the road between fields and farm. so my farming mate informs me.
