Silverone no it isnt a wind up during the welsh run my rear tyre just went square it was fine before, so the only thing I can think of is there must have a section of soft compound going round the tyre and it just went in a couple of hundred miles It also sloped to the nearside as if I had been riding on a steep negative camber.

Yip, I/we know where ur going "that's why we broke away" from the group (plan B) before dinner and just before Garmin burt got lost

"just before Garmin burt got lost"
Did anybody ever find out what happened to him coz I rode about 20 miles back looking in all the hedgerows just in case he'd fallen off or run up the back end of someone again.

I thought I'd better post this before Fat Bert and Chunky Monkey start taking the piss. They both saw my tyre before and after and seemed surprised that it worked.
When I did the rideout on the welsh weekend for some strange reason my rear tyre went Square. We were all riding at a fairly brisk pace admittedly nothing heroic but still not hanging around, I couldnt understand it. Also being rather skint at the moment I couldnt afford to put a new one on when this still has at least 1/2 K left on it. The main problem is that the bike is handling like a dog. Last night I got to thinking how I could rescue the thing so I tried spinning the rear wheel in second with a sheet of coarse sand paper against it. That did nothing so next I tried a very coarse carborundum wheel , still no joy . So I tried a Surform (a sort of file thet works like a potato peeler) and it worked a treat. It took about 10 mins and I now have a tyre that is the right shape and goes round corners like a good un and should be good for another 2K.

Please tell me you're joking and 'avin a laugh?
