The sooner BRITAIN is a bike free zone the better IMHO.

Is that really true though, have loadsa places actually had to close because of it..? Genuine question.... I don't know what the figures are on this.Oldbull said:it will cause the closure of a lot of the type of pubs that I like to frequent.. fact..

Ye gods!! I find statements like that incredible. Just how does the smoking contingent justify the onus being on the non smoking victims or recipients of someone else's smoke to go elsewhere? In any stretch of the imagination that can't possibly be right. Surely the onus must be on the smoker....?? Apart from the obvious, doesn't the simple majority/minority rule apply...?? I'd be interested to read genuine and valid reasons why the onus should be on the non-smoker...Oldbull said:.. like you have at the moment.. the choice.. You can go do your socialising in places where they dont smoke if you want..
The common complaint that seems to run through these threads is the assumption that the smokers will not have any pubs to go to. For example, that statement suggests that this pub will loose 80% of it's customers. That's rubbish!! Utter tosh!! The regulars of any given pub will continue to be regulars on the whole. Yes, you may get a very limited boycott by a few in the early days but they will soon cave in and go back. How is it that you think you won't have a pub to go to, lol!Oldbull said:80% of the regulars that go in their pub smoke...... and they need to keep them all to stay open ....
Being a non-smoker myself I have to agree with a lot of things people are saying but surely if someone sat next to you in a resturant or pub and did a really rank fart then surely that would be an infringement on you as wellandybird said:Is a opoint being missed here? I am a non smoker and simply don't like being in an environmemt where there is cigarette smoke. forget all the passive smoking stuff, it really is as simple as that.
As far as I am concerned it is an infringement on ME if someone smokes near me.
Go somewhere else!!man8um
