coming out of the limehouse link tunnel and i spot plod in a camera van and some bikes sitting in front of it, parked up waiting to real the money in..now super sneaky or what..500 yards up the road..plod van 2..yes number 2 cams again and more bikes behind it just waiting again..im guessing that if you spot the first van and slow down..then speed up once your past it and looking in your mirrors to see if there coming after you..hey presto strieght into van 2 and hello your nicked for speeding..sorry correction you coughing up what little money you managed to scrape together for xmas 2004 back to the goverment again
so the new rule is dont think you scrapped past them with the anchors on then open it up again ..wait to see if you spot van number 2 up the road

Anyone seen The Comic today ???

Two page spread on the latest proposals that are being looked at by Alistair Darling and his Transport Dept. as we speak.

It looks like a 'zero tolerance' policy to speeding. The ammount of points you receive will drop from three to two......but the 'leeway' that you currently enjoy (10% speedo error plus two miles an hour) will be withdrawn. So, 31mph in a 30 and that's two points......41mph in a 40 and that's another two.

How long before speedo's are part of the MOT ????.......and how long before creeping over the speed limit is as unacceptable as drink driving ?????

.................can't be done IMHO.........a speedo will never be 100 % accurate on current technology - it varies with fekking temperature fercrysakes as your tyre pressure ie. circumference varies let alone other mechanical limitations............Now if they insist on GPS speedo's then they might be able to make it stick.

Usual shitty PR from this waste of a government. Spin a bad tale then impose something slightly less dreadful but worse than what you could have got away with if you'd been honest and upfront.

Speed a factor in accidents ? Tell it to Shrops. If the w*nker had been moving faster and not stopped after pulling out on Mark, Shropsieboy may have been able to miss the twat altogether. Mark wasn't speeding at the time either, by the way.................

It's not speed, it's poor poor driving standards......rant rant etc etc etc ad nauseum.

You're right DB.....the gist of the piece was most speedo's over-read, so if it say's 30mph you're only doing 27'ish. If they can force people to obey their speedo then nobody will ever get nicked for speeding.

And then a pink elephant flew overhead with Elvis on it's back !!!! :bang:

I saw the same sort of thing as Reefer...

Delivering round South Wales yesterday, I was going from Cardiff to Caerphilly, when I spotted one of those nice white camera vans with both back windows open for business..... As I passed it (legally in my little white van) I noticed a Police bike sat on the corner at the next traffic island... When I got to the island, there were 3 bikes, 2 patrol cars, and further up the road (about 100 yards) another camera van (again, open for business)

Are they getting desperate for funds ???

Do they need to get their quotas up ???

Is this the act of a desperate police force ???

Made me wonder why other crime was going undetected... Specially when they can spend so much work time chatting on the roadside in the sunshine...

Or am I just getting cynical ???

Perplexed,

Rolfy

Rolfy - yes to all of your questions

As an aside - my mate owns a bike shop in Manchester - he keeps friendly with the local traffic warden - the warden showed him a piece of paper the other day that is from his boss - they have now introduced quotas for the wardens - so they now need to hit a number every day - something that most of us assumed was going on anyway at a guess.

To much money

I think the reason that it's now two camera vans is they have made so much money out of us now you know what the saying is you have to speculate to accumulate, hence two vans and ten twats to chase you. what next satellite tracking robocop to collect the fines. Bike confiscation on three offenses, where will it stop. I think it's time to sell up and fuck off to warmer climates, less big brother less cameras less attitude, more to life than all this place has to offer, My vote is let's get to fuck out of it, the most expensive fuel the most taxes more rain shit governments, poor education and health policy's,I want to work to live not live to work,Live to ride ride to live, hear our days are numbered, we just sneak between gatsos and mobile cameras, why it's a global Village, We don't need to be hear lets do one

The deal with the zero telerance thing is this.
The first time someone with more than two brain cells gets nicked for 31mph when his speedo shows 30 there will be all sorts of shite flying.
The offender will sue the car manufacturer who in turn will remove support for govt as they will have to recall all the cars they have ever made and I do mean ever ) and fit a speedo based on a GPS. ( we all know the amount of clout the automobile industry has in this country. )
In other words I concour 100% with DB..
Though I do have a question for DB.. Why did you put a star where in the middle of winker ?

Don't tempt them DB I can see them mulling over compulsory uniquely identifiable GPS dataloggers installed on all vehicles linked dierctly to the DVLA revenue collection center

Should spend more time nicking the kind considerate people that block yellow box junctions at traffic lights and roundabouts - might actually be able to get near the speed limit up coming in and out of Sheffield every day then.

Hang on. they could have it both ways then - get nicked if you stop the traffic flowing or a speeding ticket because no one blocks junctions. Ummm, perhaps I have to put a bit more thought into that one c7u8
