Mud & diesel

:p Just after the M1 at Jct38 there is a hill with a nice winding drop down the other side, however today on my way home from work I approached the hill doing only about 50mph as there was a fair amount of slow traffic in both directions (also single white line) not only that but there was about one and a half miles worth of mud & diesel on the road added to the fact that the roads were already damp & slippy this made a lethal combination, I wish these feckin tractor (no not Harley) drivers would clear up after themselves  s04pb0x6

There you go Bert, a bike related post [sort of]

Is that between Woolley and Hall Green by any chance :dunno:

And if it is what were you doing at 50 in a 30 zone

That's never a 30 is it???!! I must pay more attention. Tis a good road when there's no $hit about, just watch out for the feds lurcking by the Premdor place with the scameras :shooter: .

Actually, that's when the 30 zone starts, as you're heading in towards Barnsley, dunno what it is before that mind.

Wonder where you would stand legally if you came off after a tractor had laid a load of mud all over the road?

In view of what ciano says are we now talking about the road between The Post Office and Darton? If so I don't know what the speed limit is on there, so you're forgiven.

from the post office to just past Premdoors is a 40 limit

Say's who? :dunno: the road is an 'A' road [A637] there are no speed signs until just before Premdoor, so doesn't that make it a national speed limit. :neenaw:

If there are lamp posts and no other speed limit signs it is 30mph limit. If there are no street lights and no other speed limit signs it is national speed limit (60 on a single carriageway, 70 dual). If there are speed limit signs then that is the speed limit.

Without checking the road out myself I don't know what the limit is on there. If Ian says it's 40 then that is good enough for me, as he knows everything.

There are only street lamps outside the barn conversions and no speed signs, so I accept that there is a 30mph limit there. but past there being single carriageway is a 60mph limit until you get round the bottom bend just before premdoor where there is a 30mph sign, then just past the darton/Kexbrough crossroads it goes to a 40mph limit.
regardless of the speed limit on there, feckin tractor drivers should be fined for leaving mud & diesel on the road.

How come there are signs that say Bend ahead max speed 40 when if you try you can go a lot faster than that ?

Those signs that say bend ahead are instructions to local thugs.

as it happens you can call the council and report the mud on the road, if after you've actually reported it and then theres an accident the council will be held responsible, it will then be for the council to get the farmer to cough up, b0x2 !! sound complicated?? you fookin bet it is!! :bang:
still say it's a 40 :f
