I have a failry new battery but the bike just want hold anycharge, Is anyone aware of an issue ?

first question is
how old is fairly new? It is possible that the regulator has gone tits up, in which case it won't matter how old the battery is. Get a meter and check the charging rate comin from the reg. Should be about 13 to 14 volts any higher and chances are the reg is gone west.
