Lord Derby last night 6th, - what's happened??

Went down to the Derby last night........ and the place was VERY quiet!

No BIRD members, - and not even enough bikes to fill the area outside the pub! What the fook's happened?? :dunno:

Even the plod almost didn't bother! They had a quick cruise in and out again and that was all I saw of them.

Has it died a death??

I went to the Old Royal Oak last night and that was dead too! Less than 100 easily, usually 150 - 200+ most weeks, especially a decent evening like last night.

Left there about 8pm and went over to the Waterman - a few more there but still way below the norm.
Where the hell was everyone?

I know the Alton Cafe meet on wednesdays is getting bigger, as the police presence is a lot less than the Derby.

Yep - a few folk I chatted to buggered off to Alton 'cause nothing was happening at the Derby...... nearly went meself, but made for home instead.

I now just go to Alton Cafe - lovely run on the A339 from Basingtoke, and its every Wednesday evening, not just once a month like Lord Derby (which was pretty dead on the 6th)...

the 339's one of the best roads in Hants........unfortuantely loads of bikers crash on it!

I used to use it to get from Hatch Warren to the Cafe at Alton when I lived at B'Stoke. There's a great downhill left hand kink with a big dip in it, you can get the Bird to bottom out through there.

The route between the Derby and Alton's awesome too

having only just lost my A339 cherry :blush: I agree its a nice but DANGEROUS road.

We were returning from Alton up to B'stoke as a club ride out when some

on a R6 decided that he couldnt wait to overtake the 6 of us and the truck we were sat behind so just went over the white lines and went for itjust as the knee down brigade going the other way came round the corner.

To say that was his first shock is an understatement , cos when he swerved in he made one of our " new riders" take avoiding action which spooked him a lot,

Then he found out that 2 xx's can shift when they want too ( it was the long straight section, I aint a twisties guru ) as we caught him up to explain the errors of his ways c7u8

simply far too much traffic on it to make it enjoyable and when it's empty the Traffic Taliban & numpties are out in force :bang:

I must agree the A339 can be dangerous and is best riden at off-peak times and weekends... The A4074 between Reading and Oxford used to be a nice road too, but now has become a dangerous road - due mainly for car drivers (in my recent experiences) often treating the double white sections of road as if its a dual crriageway...

A4074 a good road at anytime :t

IT is terrible, and I have to ride it to get anywhere :bang:

and the car drivers are 8l1nd to anything on it espeically the white lines
