FORUM MODERATION AND MEMBERSHIP - Please read

Following the "online discussion" from last week, as promised, JAWS and myself have met up today to discuss, amongst other things, Forum Moderation.

From the outset both JAWS and myself agreed that wherever possible the BIRD forum should remain unmoderated.

However some thread hijacking has been evident over the last few weeks outside of the Coffee Shop

We've agreed and will implement the following moderation

Coffee Shop - will remain completely unmoderated - it's aimed at banter and amusement as well as trying to be informative - not all threads will be Blackbird or even bike related. It's a general meeting ground - a virtual "e bar" where you can call in - pull up a barstool - have a beer - enjoy the environment

Owners Bikes - to remain unmoderated

Technical Help - to be moderated by JAWS

Rider Skills Section - to be moderated by Fat Bert

Missions Accomplished - to remain unmoderated

Touring Issues to be moderated by Richard

Iffie Pics - will remain completely unmoderated

Members Discount - closed forum - read only

Quoteable Quotes - closed forum operated by Lumpy

BIRD BITZ - to be moderated by Fat Bert

Moderation will limited to deleting irrelevant posts that OBVIOUSLY do not contribute to the thread subject matter and for the greater part will be self-moderating - so really not an awful lot has changed. If you all know the moderation rules, then thread hijacking will become self-regulating

BIRD Membership - JAWS and myself remain committed to providing free and/or Sponsorship membership to anyone who wants to join

We will continue to show zero-discrimination to anyone daft enough to want to join

Criticism has been levelled at the "drivel" posted on the Coffee Shop. To some it may be drivel [or diatribe - there's a good word to look up] - to others it's banter. If you know that the Coffee Shop [and indeed the Iffy Pics] contains postings that don't meet your "viewing criteria" - quiet simply........don't go there

Hope that makes things clear to everyone.

As anyone who runs on online community will know the bandwidth/space usage let alone the time that is required is immense
