You can't really win. I'm sure if they'd offered him the booze then he'd have cited it as an affront to his religious beliefs. To be fair, he should have been asked whether he wanted the prize rather than just assume he didn't and replace it with something else.
Although surely the reason should have been him being teetotal rather than bringing his religion in to the argument.
On the flip side there were a few Neanderthals that I worked with who had a problem with small accommodation being made for individuals to mark Eid.You can't really win. I'm sure if they'd offered him the booze then he'd have cited it as an affront to his religious beliefs.
When I was in the RAF I spent some time training overseas airman (mostly Commonwealth but also arabic airman from the Middle East).
This was a new course and at the end of the first intakes training they were invited to the Annual Summer Ball on the base. At some stage very early in the evening I offered a couple of Saudi airmen a drink (this was before all this PC bullsh*t and well before all the cultural awareness we now "enjoy"). Needless to say, it didn't go down well and quickly escalated from a bit of shouting to some serious handbagging and then the appearance of the Snowdrops.
According to the boss the following day, we were a gnats fart aware from a diplomatic incident and all because they were offered the temptation of alchohol.
What pissed us off bigtime was that we knew that all the arabs in particular would party hard at the big nightclubs in London at the weekends.
Apparently not, he had previousLy received champagne. You can't really win. I'm sure if they'd offered him the booze then he'd have cited it as an affront to his religious beliefs.

Really? A colleague who was a devout Christian asked for a shift pattern so he could go to Church on Sundays, denied. I know banks didn’t work on Sundays but if they did would you accommodate a Christian’s request?Derek, provision would have been made for any race or religion within the bounds of being reasonable and business sustainability.

All services are now brainwashed into believing that minorities take precedence.
The Prison service even altered it’s Friday regime to accommodate Muslim service.
Sustainability? Changing a long established regime for the sake of a false religion. You believe what you like Derek.
If you reread my post it mentions business sustainability.
