I am sure the industry will be delighted to hear your thoughts on how to resolve the issues they are struggling with.It was only a few months ago that silly man Dominic Raab said that there's no way the time for the beginning of the sale on new ICE cars would be put back. Pretty dumb claim when not enough public chargers are being fitted and there are so many homes where it is not possible to fit them. I can see it going back again.
Also, part of the problem is that the wiring of the national grid is not man enough to cope with the power required for the super-fast chargers.
Better off making cars with engines powered by zero-emission fuels, which a number of companies are working on. Apparently it's too expensive at the moment, but it's coming along.*
*someone much cleverer than me will need to expand on this.
Two points here.My grandson went to Anfield last night in his father's i4. Which I do quite like. Or did. Its a tad over 200 miles from here but due to the pissing rain and having the air con running to demist it the car only made it with 20 miles to spare.
The issue was that when they pulled into the first services on the M6 to recharge so did everybody else. Took 2 hours to get on a charger to put in a 40 minute charge to get them home.
My mighty diesel will go 600 miles without refuelling so I would have been home with my feet up before they even got out of the services.
Explain to me how it makes sense because I can't see it.
If we could justify two cars the second would 100% be a small EV for the short journeys we take which is probably 90% of the total. It is all a big con, electric vehicles is an impossible fantasy, if they had the technology to make vehicles cover the same distance as petrol & diesel cars they wouldn’t because the mugs that have been panicked into buying them are obviously happy forking out exorbitant electricity prices every 200 miles,
I recall as a child seeing on the news that the World would run out of electricity within 30 years.
We are lied to daily & people swallow these lies.
All very valid points. But they were still stuck on a shitty motorway service station for nearly 3 hours. Couldn't even run the heated seats because the battery was in danger of going completely flat and those bastards are heavy if you have to push it to the charging point. Two points here.
The first being, obviously, diesels are the spawn of the devil.
The second, less obviously, is the efficiency of ICE v EV. A proper petrol engine only converts on average between 20% and 25% into ‘power’ used to propel the vehicle - the rest is used to generate heat and noise. Diesels are (annoyingly) slightly more efficient at between 23% and 28% despite sounding like dustbin lids being banged together.. EVs are over 90% efficient, something that is overlooked when the luddites bang on about the impact of producing electricity.
In a nutshell EVs are far more efficient in converting ’fuel’ into motion.p, even when looking at how much fuel is used at source ie power stations..
There is no getting away from the fact that the charging network is nowhere near fit for purpose at present.
There is also no getting away from the fact that we have to get away from using fossil fuels one way or another.
The cost of batteries for ev’s is measured in child labourIf we could justify two cars the second would 100% be a small EV for the short journeys we take which is probably 90% of the total.
Are you suggesting that the ‘refuelling’ cost of an EV is higher than ICE? If so….think again!

What happens to EV owners if they overstay the alloted free time at service stations.?All very valid points. But they were still stuck on a shitty motorway service station for nearly 3 hours. It's barbaric and I will glady keep my mighty diesels because the longest I have ever spent in a motorway services is 10 minutes. And that was too long.
They have!!!!What happens to EV owners if they overstay the alloted free time at service stations.?
Do they get stung for parking.?

By your logic then every soldier should have his own tank.
Far more efficient than a 2.5ft long pop gun.Ditch the rifle and guarantee a kill every time.
It covers the roles of....infantry personal weapon, sniper rifle, mortar, field gun, battlefield taxi, bivvy bag and poncho, bergen, body armour...
It's faster than walking, weather proof, dry, warm, it's got facilities to make a brew or cook yer scoff and it'll carry more kit than any squaddie..... plus there's plenty of places to kip and wet kit will actually dry in reasonable time. Think about it.... no more trying to dry wet socks under yer jacket.
And.... you can park where you like.
