Gypsy encampment

yesterday saw the arrival of 20 or so "travellers" caravans in the next village 1/2 mile away, and last night saw the break in of three houses and 6 garden sheds, "known to date", why are these people allowed to get away with just moving around the country thieving and making a bloody mess of everywhere they decide to stop,?? theres not a vehicle more than two years old, and most of them are bloody great big 4x4s, landcruisers and such, :dunno: not bad for these people supposedly unemployed and living on us/the dole,
having a look outside first thing I saw footprints in the frost "which lay deep and crisp and even" and saw two sets of footprints up the drive to about the point where my security lights normally pick up someone and turn on, so it looks like I will be having some extra security fitted in the VERY near future, :bow:
any suggestions on how to rid ourselves of this blight on the village, "legally/just" please, :dunno:

I dont know about legal methods,but a friend of mine had some move in on a field behind a trading estate where he had his motorcycle workshop.
Thieving aroung the trading estate rose skyhigh,the local police said it would take ages to move them,and that "he shouldn't take the law into his own hands and do things like catapult ice-cubes through the windows,which leave no evidence and broken windows in winter make living very uncomfortable."
They left within the week 8ree! .

Our local plod told us outright they are too scared to move them on cos they know they have shotguns ! Now how fookin bad is that !!!
When asked if they had licences for the guns, the answer was.. Not as far as we know..

When pointed out that a mates stolen trailer ( complete with his number plate still on it ! ) was sitting on the site they suggested he should claim on his insurance cos they would not be able to get it back !! :bang:

The cheeky bastids arrived in Brockenhurst, Hampshire about 5 miles from 1200Pete around 3 years ago, they caused mayhem in the village, fighting in the pubs and coming onto my folks campsite trying to pinch caravans.
Within the week a local official arrived (on horseback) with police in attendance and served a notice upon them to move..
The forestry commision stood by with 4X4 tractors and logging machines to physically move their vehicles & caravans if they refused to move by noon of that day. What a spectacle it was to see them sat outside cooking breakfast on gas stoves at 11am and by 12 not 1 vehicle left
Piles of shit were left behind, half a dozen Transit tippers from the council and a team of guys cleared up after them.
I think the ice cube trick is superb 10/10 for that

Jaws, you must have some very weak coppers there as we stand no shit and kick ass here. We wont be ruled by these scum, so if the site is too big, wait till the feckers drive off on their own, follow then, stop them, arrest them under pace for no fixed abode and make life hell. They soon piss off. As someone say's under they're signature on this forum, theres more than one way to skin a cat.

I had the complete displeasure to help manage two legal council "travellers sites" that was bad enough.

Anyone remember the "battle of Little Waltham" in the news this year, that was 2 miles from my old place.

Well I have a gypsy for a son in law.. he is as honest as the day is long and I would trust him with anything ( even my daughter LOL ! )

However, his family are ( naturally ) all gyspys too.
Some are salt of the earth, but a large amount of them would steal a babys crib if they thought they could get away with it ..

So all this 'of they aint REAL gypsys' might well have been true 30 years ago, but sorry to say it no longer holds water.. and this is not an opinion, it is a reporting of facts as I know at least 40 to 50 gypsys very well indeed..

Whilst a lot of the older families are no longer on the road ( the French's from Kent, the Smiths from Londone area, most of the Boswells from around Lancashire way ) there are still plenty out there and causing mayhem where they plot up :bang: :dunno: :rant:

Well your entitled to your opinions the same as anyone else, my opinion is that every traveller I have met have all been convicted criminals, and beleive me thats been 100's of the little beggers, not one of them has an ounce of respect for the law, the person or property and I wouldnt trust them a fraction of an iota.

I appreciate that my view may be clouded as I meet them all in prison, however I have met 1000's of people in prison and some of them have actually been decent cons, but I have yet to meet a decent traveller.

Our vans was parked atthe road site while the lads were working about
50yards away doing some Live Line work
Came back to the van for bait time the phookin side door window was smashed in and 3Grand worth of Chain saws ( 6 in total)were gone
Gypos/Travelers are camped not far from the site and local bobbies suspect it was some of them but they cannot prove it.I have worked with gypsies before when I was about 17year old and found the ones I worked with as Honests as the day was long but the majority(Spelling) ofthem nowere days are just idle theiving bastids. IMO.

The point I was attempting to make (maybe badly) was I live in a small village where almost everyone knows or is related in some way,!! to one another, the crime rate prior to these "travelling caravan dwellers", was negligible,(incest not included) in the space of two days we have had three houses and 6 sheds broken into, one local youth beaten senseless and a car stolen, the kid has NEVER been in a fight before, and was alone when attacked by two youths from the camp site, we don't know the circumstances at this time, we do know the car was seen AT the camp half an hour after it was nicked from the local pub car park, it has since disappeared,!!
the "travellers" would normally have set up camp at Normanton a larger village about a mile and a half away, the last time they camped there the locals got together and burnt one caravan and smashed a couple of others up, the cops stood about doing nothing,and eventually the travellers moved on, the crime rate dropped to near zero, not me sensationalising but fact, the local pubs even had an upturn in trade as people felt safer when these people had gone,!!
Ive no doubt there are good and bad among-st them, this lot fall into the latter set,
BTW, we have a true gypsy couple living between sharlston and Normanton and they make their money by fixing old bikes and selling them, they have been there for years and the old dear still lives in the original horse drawn caravan, though its rotten and now covered with a tarpaulin, "the van not the horse"
