Freezing milk

Not ideal freezing milk, the fat separates as the milk expands, when thawed it doesn't mix right altering the taste & texture.
Why buy more milk than you need? Which if you're freezing it you obviously are.

We have used semi-skimmed for as long as I can remember - the full fat stuff turns my stomach after all these years and certainly ruins a cup of tea.

Same thing with Coke - the full version tastes terrible to me after Decaff Diet Coke consumption for years. Can't even drink the stuff.

My mum used to buy massive blocks of cheddar cheese from a wholesaler - must have been four or so kilos - stuck it through the food processer to grate it and then put it in the freezer.

Should I start another thread on that?

Never noticed any difference.

Simple reason is an aversion to supermarkets, why go more often than necessary? Same with bread, bought once a week and frozen.

Warburtons grain stuff is really nice. Stopped buying the 'fresh' stuff baked in the supermarket - all seems really 'doughy'.

47 years eh, John? I'm surprised it has lasted that long. Isn't it a bit on the solid side?
No , it was ok.. But woman and I did have a bull and cow over it when I told her she needs to clean out the fridge more often !

If you buy the Cravendale milk it is triple filtered and most of the bacteria that causes milk to go off is removed. It has a shelf life of 12 days from memory.
Even 40 odd years ago when I delivered milk as a kid we proved to one customer that milk lasted. Put a pint on her outside window sill on a Saturday (it was winter) then drank it the following Saturday.

I believe that in some parts of the country milkmen still deliver to your door, even supermarkets will let you order online & deliver your order to your door.
Haven't seen a milkman down here. Ever. We don't even have a lemomade lorry any more.

The reason why we don't use online grocery shopping very often is that my mother in law insists on going to the supermarket every Wednesday morning at 7.30am. It is the highlight of the week.
