We all hear about ?rider fitness? and that GP riders etc go through a rigorous training programmes as it takes quite a bit of upper body strength to muscle bikes about on circuit.

Well does anyone know what they are?

I for one would be keen to see what they have to do to stay fit, and it wouldn?t be a bad thing for some of the BB riders to take it on board, including me!

Who ate all the pies .. p0pc0rn41:p

first requirement of the modern GP rider nowadays is to be under 5ft tall and weigh less than 8 stone wet through.. so that narrows the BB riders out by 99.9999% hehe

James Toseland is reported to be one of THE fittest riders outhere and he has a strict fitness routine.. fine ,if thats all you have to do, not like us poor sods who have to work for a living etc etc :violin:

good luck with the diet Buzz :lick:

i for one can say that loosing 3.5-4 stone has benefited my riding...particularly my stamina on long rides,and also my ability to move about on the bike when riding roads with bend after bend after bend.your concentration is greatly improved also..so you gain all ways.

as for what they(GP riders)do...i should imagine it would consist of a couple of hours in the gym most days of the week doing CV(cardio vascular)training,light weights(resistance training),and a good healthy diet....something that would benefit everybody,not just racers.

personally,i now go to the gym 3-4 times a week,swim 1/2 mile 1-2 times a week,and have also just started back karate after an 18 yr break...so who knows...maybe there's a GP racer in me yet! :eek:

seriously though...any exersise is better than none at all.

New Years Resolution

I have promised myself to do some fitness work after a struggle on the last day of my european trip last year. Joined the local leisure centre but only for swimming, I know swim 3-4 days a week and the difference is amazing already, a few aches and pains but they soon go.

Well recommended, you also get to see the girls in the shower as the changing rooms are bi-sexual or whatever it is they are called :yo:

Must be time to go again soon :lick:

having lost a bit of weight I must say I have a lot more energy, :eek: I dont feel tired halfway through the day and can even work faster "not that I do you understand" but losing weight is one of the best things I've done in a long time, roll on the bash, and you will all see less of me!! :rolleyes:
hooray I hear you all shout!! :}
the exercise comes with my job, and I dont get time to "train" :rolleyes:
I'd recommend diet and exercise every time cheapest way of improving the handling and performance of your bike!! :bow:
