Got ours

With our bank account with Lloyds TSB,, cost ten pounds a month for full cover anywhere in the world 365 days a year for both of us.,, also gets uk AA cover thrown in,& mobile phone cover to,, bloody cheap for 120 quid a year,, used it once while in the U.S,, Lorna had a bout of food poisoning,, medical bill was about $700,, didn't have to pay up front,, bill landed on our door mat in the UK,, just sent it to insurance peeps who paid direct.

Some peeps pay 60 quid for medical cover for a fortnights holiday :dunno:

You have to have a E111 but it only gives very basic cover - pretty dire in some countries.
I also get my holiday insurance from the Post Office, it's not bad value.

Try www.journeywise.com

- I think that's correct but will check again tomorrow at work. Buy it online. Cheap as chips, underwritten by American International Group. (aka New Hampshire Ins Co) Damn fine cover, There were no War or Terrorism exclusions, although haven't checked them out very recently. We do 'quite a bit' of our corporate PA/Travel cover with AIG and usually suggest clients try them for their personal cover, if they ask us, as we don't handle personal business. Annual Family cover was something silly like ?85 or something!

Me? - bank account like Shrops only do be aware, if we are talking Lloyd's and one has a pre-existing condition - you have to write every time you travel and get it OK'd. (They haven't said no yet to various places in the EU, but I don't know what the story would be if it were further afield or for other conditions.) I believe it was this very cover that got Wiz out of one hell of a lot of trouble when he bit the dust in Spain last year. (was it last year?) Hurrah for Gold accounts!

If anyone has 'aged parents' - with or without medical conditions, the best we have found is the Coventry Building Society!!!!!! - you don't have to have an account with them.

Any insurer can be let down by their 'Emergency Assistance' service - as I discovered when I 'did' my knee in Majorca a few years ago. Insurer was Kingfisher via Co-op Travel - claim was settled no prob but trying to get me back to UK was a mega prob - the Assistance co were in cahoots with Thomson and refused to let me come back on the Airtours flight I was already booked on, even though they had loads of spare seats (I only needed 3!) so we had to find ourselves another hotel for one extra night and Jenny wasn't a happy bunny. They did say at the time that my husband could not stay with me! We obviously ignored that, our friends went back on the normal flight (which was how we knew there were loads of empty seats!) and started the ball rolling 'in flight' by requesting and completing a complaints form there and then and handed it in to the Captain - apparently this helps a lot, it has to be given priority if handled this way. (Friend is a neighbour of one of the solicitors who is always on the telly answering questions about this kind of thing!)

Strangely the Airtours rep in the resort seemed to disappear just as the %$fan - that was very curious, wasn't it!

The medical treatment I received in Majorca however was A1 and as I said the cash flowed immediately from Kingfisher as soon as we got back and submitted our receipts. Oh and we got ?1,000 back from Airtours and whacked it with our friends!
