christmas rip offs!!!!!

wondered over to the works canteen today to nibble on a carrot or half a stck of celery or something as usual :blush:
and noticed the xmas dinner on the menu
so for once i thought id resist from the carrot munching and give it a go...now normal roast days consist of ..ie..roast beef, mincer puddings, 2 veg, roast spuds and gravy..grand total of ?2.65 with free mustard or horseradish sause
so cos its christmas..they offer the "chrismas dinner with all the trimmings"
which upon approaching the counter concisted of..roast turkey ala pre cut and slapped in the oven (just in case there was any juice left init ) roast spuds, 2 veg which now included sprouts instead of peas gravy and the tinyest cocktail sausage wrapped in what looked like 1 streak from a piece of streaky bacon....price ?5.70 ..needless to say i made a swift u turn and removed a steak and kidney pie from the fridge, sklapped it in the nuker, then went back and got chips slapped on top..grand total ?1.45..inc gravy!..asked why i wasnt having the set dinner by the head chef..i replied cos its a bloody ripp off, to which he pointed out all the trimmings ..to which i pointed out the only diffrence between normal roast day and today was the ferking price and a mini sausage
just another example of crimbo ripp off

Chrismas is a rip off full stop

however our canteen are doing full chrimbo dinner with all the trimmings followed by desert, chrimbo pud with brandy sauce, plus mince pie and cup of coffee for ?4, and that is run by aramark, but I won't be able to have any as I'm on nights :cry:

yeah but in all fairness you cant compare that to food down in the south
having sampled the delights of a cafe in hexthorpe near mincerville just a few weeks back..ic an see how they can offer it to you for ?4 :f :f :}

You can't judge all northern food by one cafe, you have obviously never had a Hoffmans pork pie world cup winners for past ten years, When I lived down south the main thing I missed was quality food :f I have yet to meet a southerner who can do proper fish and chips, mind you I suppose you prefer Bland food to go with your bland beer :neenaw: :f

And don't forget our other great East London delicacy..........

Pie and mash with the green liquor poured over it !!!!!! Has to be served with lashings of vinegar (that has peppers and other shit floating in it), the mash must have lumps in it, the pies must contain cow's ears, tongues and arseholes and have rock-like pastry on the top and nobody can actually tell you what goes into the green liquor......bloody disgusting !!!!! :}

actully if you flood the liquor with loads of vinegar(if its left over from screen cleaning :f ) you end up with a quiet tasty sweet and sour green gunge :}

First one opened in Greenwich, I think. It was crap then and still nothing's changed !!! :} :} Like a doner kebab....it's food for the desperately pissed at 11-25pm when no decent restaurant will serve ya !!!!!! :}

I believe Kelly's Pie and Mash shop in the Bethnal Green Road is supposed to be the creme de la creme of pie and mash......tried it once.....and it tasted the same as all the other pie and mash outlets.....ferkin' horrible !!!!!! :}

I'll give the green gunge and vinegar a try next time I get conned into eating in a pie and mash shop, Si !!!!!! :}

Whatever we get you can almost garauntee that a few 1000 inmates around the country are going to be doing pretty good with there choices from the menu.
