Wolfie its what the whole christian thing is all about, self denial. If you refuse your self somthing or make yourself do somthing thats painfull its some nutty way of proving to others and yourself how good you are. I think it all comes down to control for the church , If you put the fear of god into everybody, when you get a person with some free thought who might just refuse to tow the line scare him a bit, then a bit more and send him on a quest or make him crawl round a church for two years saying Hail Mary's .Its hard to stand up against the church when the infidel has ripped your guts out or you've got scabs a foot thick on your knees.
Having said that I like hot cross buns and I am pissed off that up here in B'ham we cant get the buggers in school canteens coz it might upset the MUSLIMS. WTF!!!!!!!!!!!

Its yet another case of PC madness.
What the idiots seem to miss is that every time they invoke one of these pathetic rules, they are actually driving an ever growing wedge between the various races/religions in the UK.

Ahhh.. just a thought.

Given the well known axim devide and conquor, you dont suppose this is a very deliberate govt thing to make sure there is constant friction between the various factions ?
After all, the rules are obviously coming from Govt.. and as much as we might like to think they are idiots, I strongly suspect they are actually quite clever people in positions of power.

Why don't you try to make your mind up yourself, give it a try and see what happens?

Its a bit like 'borrow' except its you instead of someone else.
You get to control who you lend to, instead of any fecker asking to borrow this, that and the other.

A bit like the Muslim belief that to die for your religion is the ultimate honour, to die for your religion is the ultimate act of stupidity in my book

agree, if you die , you then get to go to your god etc etc, if your god wants you to die for him , why did he birth you to start with??????

It's no different to the Muslims Ramadan thing, Andy. My workplace has a high Muslim presence and every year they don't eat or drink between sun-up and sunset for the month of Ramadan (hence they claim to be too weak for any taxing work). They also have to go and pray at least five times a day (normally just as a bit of heavy work crops up). At sunset they have to go and 'break the fast' (once again getting an un-official break) then there's a couple of nights where they must attend the mosque and pray all night, so you don't see them for work on those days. And at the end of the month they get a two day holiday to celebrate Eid (the end of Ramadan)

Do they go to work during our Christian holidays ???? Errrrr.....no !!!!! :dunno:
