Compared to my old VFR these look less than substantial on the Bird compared with the extra weight etc, anyone had any probs, i.e. on the ferry, or do you always put it on the mainstand?

good looking AND modest
no problems

with the side stand that I know of,
however the general consensus of opinion, is when on a boat or train, put it on the Sidestand, as it forms a tri angle and is thus a lot more stable,

Tis not true there are never any problems with the Bird side stand...
Only last week I used one as a club when out seal culling and I found they really are just not heavy enough to do the biz with one blow..
However, I would agree that as a sidestand for the bike they are perfectly fine !

Nah mate, just avoid the minging time consuming ferry and use Eurotunnel. 30 mins and you're in Calais & smooth as ya want.

The mainstand also forms a triangle...Back wheel and stand legs.
