Hate to say it but it sounds a bit of a mongrel to be honest...

I would not be too concerned about its history unless it is one of the restricted ones from France .. Only a 100BH allowed .

The braided hoses on the back was most likely fitted because the oem ones had gone manky :p . Its fairly common .

As for the evaluation sticker.. Not sure.
Honda have never used 'evaluation' markers on anything ! Maybe you have an oddball aftermarket panel that someone was gonna produce but never did thanks to the change in the EU rules governing aftermarket parts :bang:

Couple of things...
What makes you say it is a french import ? It might have been a Euro one in which case it will be full power.

Count the teeth on the rear sprocket.. if its anything other than 44 you proly have a German specific one that went on its travels :p

Any chance of looking on the carbs and seeing what type is on the bodies ?

And on a less serious note..
Having read your posts several times now I am a bit baffled by two things..
One which you, Solorider, said (
and getting my shed converted into a garage so it will be near me so i can ride it
................
I would stick to riding the bike.. its more fun and you will attract less attention

And Silverone... Your comments really have me beat !
Dunno if I am going blind, batchy or what.. but I am buggered if I can find mention of Soloriders bikes colour anywhere mate ?
Silver ones were not available until errr... 2002 I think ( but stand to be corrected )

BTW Silverone, there is an interesting and true story about how the silver models came to be.

During a stock check for the millenium a small stockpile of the old silver paint that was used on the early VFR's was found.
Rather than dump it, it was tested for quality and when found to be still absolutely perfect, put up for use.
A meeting was held and they decided it had to be on a big bike and one that was a brand leader. Naturaly the Bird was the chosen vehicle.

Soooo,, basically what you have is the paont from a 19 oh dot VFR bike !! Sorry :p !

there is a sticker in the frame which is in french and the speedo is in kmh,the headlight is a uk item and the bike was registered in the uk new,the sticker i have is evalution on the rear side panel,as to converting the shed norwich union will only cover the bike if it is kept in a brick built garage and my shed is brick built,at the moment the bike is 7 miles away and carol nash/norwich union want to charge me more for insurance due to the post code!

Oh dear Solo.. what a fookin total nightmare and what shite we have to put up with ...

About the only reason I can think of for your bike having an evaluation sticker on it would be that when it was new it was loaned to a govt organisation of other large institution for evaluation for use by them.. That would make perfect sense Solo..

If you do get a chance to lift the tank and airbox at some stage try and check the numbers on the carb bodies though.. that will give an almost def origin for you :p

I heard some muppet commenting on my bike this morning. I was lay in bed, the bike parked under the open bedroom window. He was obviously with his muppet-mates and I heard him say "It's a f*ck'in CBS 1100" My girlfriend said "Don't they make records?"

I would never, ever tell someone that thier new bike (to them) was "a bit of a mongral":t , that bike could be the best, he could afford, and in mint condition, It makes no difference weather its a French import or not, the guy is over the moon with the new bike.

I have just got stitch reading this !

Solorider, if the guys and gals are right about the word dont worry mate.. We all make boners on here all the time amd you really are one of the in crowd now !
So what we are looking at is a rather well looked after 1996/7 bird with braided hoses on the back..
And I just noticed no one answered your question re are the brakes delinked..
As far as I am aware if you have two brake lines going to the rear caliper then your brakes are not delinked.

I bet it is a Euro-Spec one rather than a French one ( Euro ones have the labels in French ).. In which case it is a full power jobby and you sir, are sitting pretty ! :p !

oh dear, hope all is well otherwise? No track day for me 'till next month :B I'm seriously getting withdrawl symptoms, although I did have a bit of fun the other day round the Frascati bends on the way to Boxhill; I was on a Burgman 650 at the time (one-piece and knee sliders et all :}) and left a power ranger on his ZX7R looking a bit silly :} Can you imagine the look on the bloke's face at Boxhill :}
You'd be surprised how well they go, especially in manual mode R#?
