100 Watter problem?

Am I missing something here? On the right is the standard bulb just taken out of my '04 Bird, on the left is the 100 watter that I'm trying to put in, however, the clip that holds it in doesn't quite reach the base of the rear of the 100w bulb, presumably 'cause of the thickness on the standard, consequently I can wiggle it about and when trying to replace the dust cover it dislodges the bulb so its not straight, my concern would also be the bulb waggling around when riding. I've got the top panels off so before I scrap the idea any help would be greatly received......just when it was all going so well

JAWS has it right, there is a big lump of plastic on the end that just pulls off.

I know this becuase I went to two shops trying to match the bulb until some guy with a brain pointed out the same thing!

The big black thingy didn't want to budge so I thought with my record of DIY I'd better seek help from those in the know, it still took a bit of persuasion, but hey ho it's working OK. :yo:

OOoohhhhh, hark at mr mechanic......pull off adaptor is it  , not the big lump of plastic, or the big plastic bit, but a "Pull off adaptor", well well who'd have thought?
Well the pull off adaptor has now been attached to the double pronged receiver and replaced into its receptacle using the retention spring, the switch has been swutched and the light emitting it is fecking bright. Amen.

Now what do I do with the rubber diaghram thingy thats on the floor??? :dunno: :B

Got to say, that's an even funnier reply

As for the rubber boot, unplug, fit the boot around the thingy that's around the hole in which you fitted the new bulb (fitted with the pull-off adaptor), push all round so that you feel a soft plop indicating that it's in place (make sure the TWO brass terminals of the pull-off adaptor come through the rubber boot hole, replug, sorted

My 100 watters stopped working

Some time ago I bought some 100w H7s, fitted both of them fine, but after one or two goes they stopped working. Took them out, checked with a circuit tester and fine, fitted them back in and working again for one or more goes and then stopped working again. Did notice though that the headlight lense became quite warm with the 100w. Had to use 55w ones again, but any ideas why I can't use my 100w? :dunno:

You could try putting it around your cock, sounds like it would fit fine and provide a useful service, rather than waste it, keeping out any water that may try to ingress the light fitting receptacle.

It's just as well lateral thought and common sense aren't included in the 5 day intensive course that makes all the new bikers such good experienced riders. They'll be letting women drive next? :bang:
