The time has come for the VStrom to be made to work for it's living.

Andrea and I are off to Lake Garda next week by bike (yes, that one), and my new dealer assures me that the bike will last the distance.

But I need some travel advice regarding a route.

We live in Hamburg and are heading due south, but what is the best route from the south of Germany (say due south of Munich as a crossing point, but happy to deviate a little to get the best trip)to the Lake Garda region, i.e. spectacular scenery, twisties, NO autobahns, and plenty of Suzuki dealerships?!!!

Any suggestions will be considered.

Also, when I get back, I have a load of touring routes that I have translated from a German bike mag, many of which I've done already, so I'll post 'em on the touring forum for anyone who may be planning a trip over here this year.

And also watch out for details of a special "offer" for you Birdy types.

Head in the Clouds
This is a bit vague......

but HB and I drove to Italy a couple of years ago. Our route went something along these lines.......
obviously England to France. Crossed into Germany( went through France via Metz and into Germany that way), accross through Switzerland(lovely scenery and good roads), through a tunnel(one of the ones that had the fire, not Mont Blanc, the other one) and into Italy from the North and to Lake Garda. Like I said its very vague but if I get a chance to look at the map, I`ll give you a better route.

Do it like us.......

:yo:

Go via Denmark...........

Not only is it a very CLEAN country, but it has a very sensible 130 kph speed limit...and the only dangers are Policemen with guns, and a pre-deliction for taking your vehicle off you if they think you are going TOOOOOOO fast..... :bandit:

Only jokin mate, but hope you and Andrea have a great time (with no punctures or other nasties...lol)

Loads of love for a safe trip to both of you.

 :k

ps... if you get the chance, take in route 27 from Freidland to Eisenach (possibly on your route) which is true Bird country... Fast and swoopy (loads of really good fast corners. Ask Jan ( "We are a bit far over" she says... How do you know I ask ??? "I can put my hand on the floor" she says, as I scrub in my new Brigestones...LOL

Rolfy!
One of us needs to get a new book of maps! cos on mine the 27 don't go to Eisenach, but the 7 does, maybe it's a new keyboard time instead!

How was the Treffen then? Andrea managed to talk me out of 'phoning you at 0630 on Sunday, as an early wake up call!

and as far as Denmark is concerned, tis in the wrong direction, we're going south to the SUN!!!!

so with my AA card at the ready, (not that I think that my super reliable-never-let-me-down Suzuki is likely to fail in it's job to get us there of course :h ) we are almost ready for the off (18th)

Post piccies upon our return ....

Have a great time in (sorry, at...) Lake garda...

Hope the weather keeps good for you, and also you have less probs than we had...Still a good trip tho...

Loads a love to ya both,
