I'd have owned my 2000 plate Bird since new and am in a bit of a quandary. For a few months, I have been considering changing my Bird for a Kwaka ZX12R.

My options as I see it are :

1. Change to a Kwaka ZX12R, a lot of bike for the money.

2. Spend some money on my Bird, i.e 1200cc, Akro 4-2-1 full system, Power Commander/Filter and Dyno setup, Ohlins/K-Tech/Maxton rear shock were what I had in mind.

Your thoughts/comments would be appreciated. :beer:

I can only share my experience of the '03 model onwards, the earlier 12R's were very different beasts

the 12R is sports tourer with the emphasis very much on sports - just compare the 12's suspension and brakes to the barge.
Horses for courses of course, but a new 12R can be had for as little as ?6.5k at the moment & if you're in the market for a new "sports"/tourer, that's a lot of bike for the money. Do it.

You know you will cry like a baby if you sell it and pester me for a ride on mine, 4-2-1 systems are crap so get 2x Akropovic cans, however if you do sell it and get a Kwak and let me have your seat cheap i will be kind and let you ride mine on the odd occasion!! :neenaw:
