ign barrel problem

hi m8tys i seem to have a wonky ign barrel because when i turn key all comes on ok but if i move key a little bit it switches off the wind blew my key fob about on my way home and bike shut down lucky for me i was on a straight road can i just fit a new barrel as my bird is a 1999 efi model fitted with hiss system any ideas please ta :bow:

If you have got HISS then yiou need much more than a barrell, you cant buy just that part because the key is part of hiss, think you need new HISS system as well, thats what they told me when I had a similar problem, cost ?800 or so

thanks m8ty but i have just been to honda agent new barrel costs ?106 and comes with 2 new hiss keys these have to be programed to the hiss system on my bike at the cost of another ?48 so that comes to ?154 still steep but what price saftey thanks again :bow:

Why dont you get a second hand barrel and key and fit your chip into it?

When I had a similar problem to yours I was told that because of the HISS system you couldn't just change the barrel and you needed new switch, key, harness and to be programmed to the bike. All this to stop theft and changing keys :dunno:
Cost me ?800 maybe I was ripped off so I will be investigating

that sounds good but how would i be able to fit my chip into key w;;v

When I got my Meta alarm it showed an option cutting the key blade and setting it into the alarm fob. I also said that you could take the chip out and fit it into a little space in the alarm fob too! :beer:
