Honda insurance

Got a quote from Honda insurance of ?585, bearing in mind that I've not had a bike for over two years so have lost all NCB's,
as this was the cheapest quote all others being round ?900 I went ahead and paid the deposit on my bike,
Today I phoned Honda to go ahead with the insurance, they inform me that they misquoted me (they put the date for insurance to commence as 1st feb 2000) they admit that it is their mistake but the premium will be ?790.
I have told them to have another look as the mistake is theirs and I have committed myself to the purchase of the bike on the strength of their original quote, and if they do not let me have the insurance for the price of the original quote then I shall go to the insurance ombudsman.
They are phoning me tomorrow with a decision so watch this space.

Honda Insurance is just coming up to its first aniversary I think, its going to be interesting to see how they quote for renewals, esp as most of us got a cracking deal when they first started up.


Hope all goes well for you Derek, if they have any shred of decency then they should hold up thier hand give you a year at the quoted price, maybe it will be worth letting them know that you will air this on Honda internet forums, so that wide selection of owners can see what they do or how they handle this, just in case a lot of Honda owners would think about switching to another Co.

just come off the phone to honda insurance for a renewal quote.......

last year...1yrs NCB...?440,?350 excess,unlimited milage etc etc

this coming year....2yrs NCB....?395....as above

quite happy with that,but will still get other quote's...just in case

At Honda insurance,

he was fighting Honda's corner but stated that he couldn't argue a case that he didn't believe in. so he put his own neck on the line and agreed to let me have the Insurance at the original quote, despite the probability of a bollocking.

Kev you may have cost Honda ?200 on this occasion, but I think you have saved them thousands in the long run, I thank you for doing the right thing.

a great result there derek....good on honda insurance....or kev.similar problem yesterday....phoned for a renewal quote,and i say that i've got 2 yrs NCB.....they say no,which is sort of true.i bought the bird 11 months after the F.J.1200,but they said they would stand me a yrs NCB....thus reducing the cost of my policy considerably.then when i spoke to them yesterday..initially would only give me a yrs NCB..but after explaining my situation,they gave me 2 yrs..providing i can provide proof of 1yrs NCB from my previous insurer...no probs.
