I have a new BB and am curious to know what sort of mpg I should be expecting to get out of the bike when using it around town... stop start arond 20 miles per day and maybe once per week around 80 miles motorway riding 70-80.

just coming upt0 600 mile first service seemed to have gone through around ?50.00 petrol. just curious if this is about right?

w;;v Tony I get around 43-45 riding normally which isn't very often these days
The best and only really accurate way is to fill the tank, zero the trip and go for a nice little ride taking in a bit of town, motor way,a roads,b roads then fill her back up.
Make a note of the miles on the trip then convert the liters that you've refilled with into gallons eg 45.5 ltrs x by 0.22= 10.00galls then just divide into the miles.
Does that make sense I think so well it does to me anyway.

The Bird is notorious for being slow to losen up... You will find that once you get to around 8 to 10,000 miles ( yes really ! That much ! ) economy will imrpove dramatically.. Until then I am afraid you will be lucky to get mid 30's to low 40's out of her..

Wolfie

Did a ride from my place to Ellesmere Port the other weekend and did 190 motorway miles on 17.5 litres before the red fuel light came on =50 mpg?
On the return trip a few hours later on the A41/A49 did 170 miles before the light came on. Ian Robbo is right....I ain't arsed what it does to the gallon now lol just gonna ride it

Tony mines done about 2500 now and I got 205 miles from her coming up from Devon to Cheshire, M5 across the Severn bridge then Wye valley to Hereford and up the A49. I bottled it at 205 but reckon I could have gone a bit further as she took 19 to 20 litres when I filled up.

If you follow your mate limping home for 100 miles doing 55mph after he stuffed his Triumph into the back of a Mondeo, you can average over 50mpg!
