Hi Guys.
Ok Blade owners a question for you.
Had a 98 Blade and on the motorway at 90+ 2 up the average mpg was about 40. Is it about the same for the newer ones from 2001 onwards.
Any info would help.

Only just got mine Paul, and when I've worked it out, i'll let you know. Its a 2001 RRY with 8k on the clock. I wont be doing 90mph two up though I'm afraid, she nearly shat herself on the back of a jetski!

It's there, or thereabouts. My 2002 954 does about that.

Hi Guys.
Thanks for those answers I have a thing about mpg- it's a sad life when that's all you have to worry about :} . I like my bikes to have good fuel consumption when cruising on the motorway but on the other end of the scale I did get 67 miles out of a tankfull when going for it on the 98 Blade!!

The Bird I just sold after 10 months used 5 rear tyres and 2 fronts and never batted an eyelid, but if I get low fuel consumption when cruising I come over all unnecessary.

So its down to the last 2 competiters and the candidates are:-
Bike 1....2001 4 yr old Blade/ 12,000 miles 6 months guarantee vgc/ yellow and black.
Bike 2....2002 K2 Gixxer1000/ 15,000 miles 6 months guarantee, Blue /white/black/ Akaacapovic can fitted/ vgc

To be honest I still cant make my mind up so Trudi sort of gets the casting vote from the best pillion standpoint but to be fair I think she will be OK whatever the outcome, nevertheless what ever we choose we will get gel seats from Melboy to ease matters and arses on those long jaunts.

The nice thing about the Gixxer is that its only 166 kilos which is 57 kilos lighter than the Bird, the weight being one of the reasons I sold the Bird, mind you the Blade is only 170 kilos.
Just of to Torremolinos this morning to have a proper sit on them both and make the final decision (hopefully)

Blade would be my choice, ask Shaun, he's got a K4 and is thinking of going back to his R1 - what does that say about the K series?.

Plus - a Blade, Honda build, Honda reliability.

My missus has got a 2001 Blade (R/W/B) and she's selling it and the bike is in Malaga if ya interested Paul?

It's says that perhaps he prefers an R1 to Gixer?
I've got a K5 750 and it's the best sports bike I ever owned, so given I've owned FireBlands, R1's, ZX9R's, R1 race bikes, even had the loand of K5 1000 for months, etc, what does that indicate? - feck all! It means I prefer a 750 K5.
What I would say Paul, is that the Firebland makes a better pillion bike.

I've been fancying a blade for a looooooooooong time but every time I try one I've been disappointed.
Just spent the day riding my m8's 96 blade with only 9000m mint condition
wot a piece of shit compared to my bird
ok it's dated now and prolly I shouldn't compare it to my bird but I also rode another m8's 2000 blade and felt the same way
today I was on my 1150gs we swapped back and for between the 2 bikes
he also owns a gs by the way
one thing we both agree on is we'd never swap our gs's for a blade.
