everybody looks at us as if we are crazy when they discover that we buy milk once a week and freeze it, defrosting when needed.

Why does nobody seem to know you can do that??

Where do you freeze it if everyone is looking at you. That might explain a lot.

If you buy milk every week, why do you need to freeze it?
We have a massive full height fridge but there is more room in the freezer.

Also, does milk really keep, for a week in the fridge? I wouldn't have thought so but I have never tried it.

The top shelf of our fridge usually has a row of milk bottles & when it gets down to a couple we buy some more, all we do is use the oldest first & I have never known any to go off although some will have been there about a week

So yes semi skimmed does last but I don't know about any of the others

Depends on the milk. We only buy skimmed and 4 pint cartons are still fine when opened a week after purchase.
I have noticed that some store milk seems to last better than others after opening. e.g. Co-op milk sometimes goes off before the use by date, whereas Sainsbury's milk lasts well into the following week.

No idea about Fortnum & Mason's milk. I'm afraid. :D

Well we have been keeping it in the fridge for the last 47 years so I think we would have noticed if it was not ok by now !!!!!
