I had an XR 4x4 back in the day. She cost me £900 a year to insure 30 years ago! I loved that car; bought her at two years old and kept her for nine years.I know, I had the estate version but even that was a blob. You've got to admit, though, the Mondeo isn't far behind.
Besides which.... there never was a Sierra Man.
Check out the new electric "Mustang". It's just a jacked up Mondeo lookalike.I had an XR 4x4 back in the day. She cost me £900 a year to insure 30 years ago! I loved that car; bought her at two years old and kept her for nine years.

You're not exactly seling it to me....Whilst I'm not a fan of wishing my life away, I cannot wait for 2028 or 2029 when the government of the day announce that the ban on selling cars with petrol or diesel combustion engines will be postponed for five or ten years. I really don't see how we can go all electric because the infrastructure placement is unworkable.
The only solution my simple mind can see is portable chargers; come home from work to your terraced house with no drive or garage, carry 50kg 'portable' charger out in the street (in the pissing rain and howling gale), plug car into charger. Get up in the morning, unplug portable charger (assuming some twat hasn't nicked it) and lump it inside, through the lounge and kitchen out the garden and plug it in to charge outside, drive off to work. Get back home after work, walk in through front door and find a summons on your doorstep from the person what tripped over your charger in the dark and bust their teeth out on the pavement. Lump 'portable' charger back through the house and plug car in. Get up in the morning and some toss pot has nicked your battery (prolly some twat that crossed the Channel illegally in a kids inflatable paddling pool). You then find that they didn't even have the decency to let your car charge fully (defo an illegal immigrant) so you don't get to work that day. Can't get to work? Fired. No problem, at least you won't need the car anymore.
I'm not intending to.You're not exactly seling it to me....
All these eco measures being implimented here to save the planet are just pissing in the wind until the big polluters (the USA, China, Russia, India) get on board and do the same.I'm not intending to.
It amazes me that the royal we are soldiering ahead with this shitwit plan. We stopped at M4 services going in and out of London last week and there was only two plug-in points at each. Ok, so it's no biggie to add a few more but in nine years time, they'll need to have dozens of them. Mrs P was on a bout it the other day; how is it going to work in car parks for companies like BA where they have a multi-storey at LHR for several thousand cars? And what impact will it have on the national grid?
Even then, it won't be enough. The way the seas are being raped, there'll be no fish left by 2045. The ocean dies, we die. It's that simple. All these eco measures being implimented here to save the planet are just pissing in the wind until the big polluters (the USA, China, Russia, India) get on board and do the same.
It's a bit like swapping your house's old high wattage bulbs for eco ones when your neighbour is a floodlit football stadium.
Self-charging i.e. hybrids use more fuel when the engine is used to power the electric motor rather than when just powering the combustion engine. Kind of defeats the object.I think that by 2030 they are hoping most cars will be self charging & reduce the need for charging stations, a problem they haven’t thought about or have chosen to ignore is the disposal of the batteries, no doubt they will become landfill & then we will all succumb to Radon poisoning.
I was thinking more solar power.Self-charging i.e. hybrids use more fuel when the engine is used to power the electric motor rather than when just powering the combustion engine. Kind of defeats the object.
The batteries cause massive damage to the environment in their production and their disposal.
