No idea Ian - an abs light is a fail.Is the engine management light on, a fail for the MOT, as in a car, just want to know if I should bother sorting it before the big day??
I used to use something similar although I suspect a little more sophisticated - it correctly identified a dodgy lambda sensor and was always able to reset the system for a while but it always came back until I changed the sensor.Spend a tenner on a OBD box. This the one i use
Reset it, chances are it will be ok

A garage shouldn't charge much for plugging it into a diagnostic thingy.Well my eldest has had the egr valve off today and given it a good clean out, lights still on and he thinks the front shocks are on their way as well, if it doesn't rain it pours, thanks for the helpfully posts.
BTW apparently the ODB reader is not able to read this particular car and it needs a different one to what most people have, IE not the cheap ebay ones!!
What car is it then ? It must have been built outside Europe or be over19 years old...Well my eldest has had the egr valve off today and given it a good clean out, lights still on and he thinks the front shocks are on their way as well, if it doesn't rain it pours, thanks for the helpfully posts.

It's a 2002 astra 2.2 coupe, it needed a good blast and the engine management light has finally gone out, it should have been fine for the MOT tomorrow, but for the towbar electrics need wiring in properly, apparently it's now part of the new MOT test, I checked on the dvla site, so I've canceled the MOT anyway as Al recones that the front shockers are a bit soft, so I'm putting new shocks on before taking it.View attachment 44724

Yep!! I know where it is thanks Simon, and that's the problem with the ODP, mine is one of the selective cars!!2002, it should be fitted with an ODB2 port. Port is found under a plastic cover between the handbrake and the gear lever.
A lot of older cars seem to be a bit selective as to which ODB readers they will play with.

And for an old car it can easily piss off focus st's 2.2 naturally aspirated all the fanboys mistake it for a 16 or 18 hundred,
Why didn't I think of that.....If that's the case then avoid the bluetooth ones that you link to your phone. The ELM327 based models can be a problem with older cars and there are a lot of cheap clones for sale on Fleabay.
An all in one reader is a safer bet, or see how much your friendly neighbourhood Vauxhall stealer will charge to plug in their diagnostic kit (probably Tech 2). You can then check any error codes that they find to see what might be playing up.
I've got one, didn't know how to use it, Al my son showed me though, so at last I found a use for my laptop!!If that's the case then avoid the bluetooth ones that you link to your phone.
