since we have lived down here I have enjoyed having the local seagull population as co-residents, although a lot of the locals see them as vermin, albeit they are a protected species. Beautiful birds and masters of elegant flight.
Since being here we have fed the cat outside to keep the smell of the food away from the house.
This changed when a gull started helping himself to the leftovers, which developed into harassing the cat while he was eating. so we changed the routine - feeding the cat in the utility room and leaving the outside door open so the cat can get out when he was finished.
The gull then started coming in the utility room while cat was eating and actually fronted us up when we chased him out.
So the routine changed again, utility room door shut, window left open for the cat to get out.
Gull beaten.
So we thought.
Sitting here this morning with the French doors open in the lounge (that is on the other side of the house) the flipping gull marched in like he owned the place. And again got pretty aggressive when he was chased out.
War has been declared.
